Google has now anouced it’s “+1″ button which will alow users to click +1 on content or search results that they recommend. From the above video it looks as though you will be able to embed a +1 button within different pages of you website allowing your visitors to recommend your content. It has been about a year since Facebook introduced it’s “like” button plug in, allowing visitors to your website to “like” your content sharing it within their Facebook account.

Currently when looking on a search results page (SERPS) it will show back websites that you or your friends may have shared, but the process of sharing is a lot more involved than simply clicking on a +1 button. Soon we will see websites that have been +1′d by friends which will definitely impact the SEO world. Byttow says Google will “start to look at +1′s as one of the many signals we use to determine a page’s relevance and ranking, including social signals from other services. For +1′s, as with any new ranking signal, we’ll be starting carefully and learning how those signals affect search quality over time.”

Google is in the process of slowly rolling out this new social signal, starting with just the English Google.com. If you want to check out +1 buttons Google will soon let users opt-in via an experimental search site and if you’re interested in adding plus one buttons to your website you can visit here to sign up for notifications.

There has recently been an update to Google’s search algorithm. Google constantly tweaks and fine tunes its algorithm to produce higher quality search results based on a number of different factors. Some of the big factors included into the algorithm in recent times were the speed and load time of your website. Users who have made an effort to speed up there sites have noticed an increase in traffic as a result. In Google’s Caffeine update, we saw the introduction of Predictive Instant Search, and also how pages are indexed much faster, however led to a lot of spammy, content farm type sites been included.

Search Engine Optimization is a interesting dynamic industry to be in, espically with all updates and changes and even more so practicing SEO in Thailand. This latest update is named “Panda“, and whilst no one knows for sure what exactly has been included in the update, Google’s Matt Cutts and Amit Singhal do share and release information from time to time and recently sat down for an interview at Wired.

(You really want to avoid taking these kind of emails seriously.)

If you have, or are considering exchanging links with someone that has contacted you via email for SEO purposes, then this is a must read post.

Everyday we get emails from other “webmasters” or “SEOS” wishing to exchange links with one of our many websites. The reason why they’re doing this is because they want to build back links into their website to improve their own Search Engine rankings. Now if you are not already aware, incoming links into your website play a vital role in search engine optimization and how your website is positioned in the search engine rankings. There are a couple of reasons for this, for example if you have two websites, both with quality content, both are equally optimized, then the only way to tell which site is of higher quality is by the number of incoming links. Remember Google wants to provide the BEST result to their customers. Each link is like a vote coming into your website, but not all links are equal.

You can determine the value of a link by checking the page rank of the page that you are trying to acquire a link from. Page Rank is determined by the number of incoming links, websites content, and traffic. Websites with a high page rank are considered authority websites and a link by them is definitely going to boost your own websites value. Also when looking to build links you need to be aware of the ratio of incoming to external links is. If there is an excessive amount of external links on the website then the value of the link decreases.

If you have a brick and mortar store, and rely on walk-in traffic for your survival, you may be wondering what the Internet can do for your business. Believe it or not, a lot – and you don’t even need a website.
In the “old days”, the bulk of businesses relied on the Yellow Pages to get the phone ringing. The majority of marketing dollars were spent getting listed in this ten pound paperweight. With the popularity of the Net, less people let “their fingers do the walking” when they need something, and more are letting their mouse do the talking.
